On December 15th, Phil De Carlos proposed to his now wife Lilly Nguyen with the help of their premature son Lucas, who arrived six months early.
Wearing a bib decorated with symbols of marriage, Lucas asked his mum to marry his dad with a little help from a speech bubble which said: “Will you marry my Papa?”
And considering his role in the proposal, the youngster’s parents decided to have their wedding ceremony in the hospital so that Lucas could be a part of their special day as well.
“You live everyday like there's no tomorrow,” 35-year-old Lilly said, according to Fox News.
“We want him to be part of our special day, we want Lucas to look back and through all this pain, stress and struggle, I want him to see that there's still something good that came out of it.”
Lucas, who weighed just over one pound when he was born, has been in the NICU in Texas Children’s Hospital for the past two months – but is said to be progressing and doing well by his doctors.
