We never get tired of a random act of kindness story here in MummyPages – ever! And why would we? They remind us that people are good, that when someone is struggling there will always be someone who wants to help – and aside from all that they give us a serious case of the warm and fuzzies.

And come on, who doesn’t like being warm and fuzzy?

Mum Kathy Widjaja had just done an enormous weekly shop with her 12-week old baby in – and from experience we know this is NOT for the faint-hearted!

However, when Kathy went to leave the supermarket it was lashing rain, so there she was with no umbrella, a packed shopping trolley and her baby strapped to her chest in her carrier.

Nightmare.

Suddenly Kathy’s ‘knight in shining armour’ appeared on the scene, an elderly gentleman who clearly couldn’t leave these two damsels in distress. He gave his brolly to Kathy, pushed her trolley to her car and even packed all of her shopping in, while Kathy and her baby sat inside, dry and comfy.

“I have no idea who this man is, but he definitely was my guardian angel that day,” an amazed Kathy told Kidspot. “The only piece of information that I know about him is that he has six children and 18 grandchildren. I felt terrible! But so thankful. And I was also thinking about what an amazing father and grandfather he must be. I left him with a hug and a kiss of gratitude and I just want him to know how touched I was for his kindness.”

Such a simple thing, helping a lady and her child to their car in the rain, but these acts of kindness go much deeper than that, and the warm feelings they engender last so much longer than the act itself.

The world can be such a good place, and these stories prove that.
