So much pressure: All parents can relate to Rebecca Adlingtons confession

Famous or not, most parents can all agree on a few things about having little ones

And though she might have a few Olympic gold medals, Rebecca Adlington struggles with her daughter like the rest of us.

The swimmer is mum to three-year-old Summer with her former husband Harry Needs and they are on holiday in St Lucia to celebrate her 30th birthday.

However, Rebecca had a run-in with her daughter when she refused to join in with the relaxing holiday mood.

Summer just wouldn't co-operate so Rebecca had to put her in the resort’s Kids’ Club for an hour.

Rebecca took to Instagram to gripe about the problem.

Posting a picture of her and Summer smiling in the pool together, she captioned it, ''I love Summer with all my heart but today has been a bit of a challenge. When people say to me ‘do you want Summer to be a swimmer like you when she gets older’ all I think to be myself is I just want her to be a good honest person.''

She continued, ''Today she’s not eaten anything, not listened to me and screamed in my face. Also been awful at sleeping the past 3 weeks!! Terrible twos were hard but Threenager is real!!''

Rebecca went on to open up about her ''bad parent confession'' of putting Summer in the Kids Club.

She said, ''Even though we’re on holiday I put her into kids club for 1 hour as I needed a little break. I know you aren’t meant to admit that as a parent but I did. I’ve been ill since Thursday and I just didn’t no [sic] how to make it all better. That hour off I spent lay on a sunbed with serious guilt and pretty much ran back to get her! However, she loved kids club and was so happy to see me.''

She continued, ''We’ve had the best afternoon since. I wanted to share as I think social media has a way of making everyone’s lives look and seem perfect. Reality is we all have our own struggles and us parents need to stick together!”

Her followers were supportive in their comments and thanked her for being so real.

One said, ''That’s what kids clubs are for! Don’t feel guilty for having an hour a day to yourself. Parenting is tough!!''

While another wrote, ''Thank you for your honesty, there is so much pressure to be the "perfect" parent, but as you have demonstrated, sometimes to be that "perfect" parent we need to recharge our own battery, even if it is just 1 hour!!''

What do you think - did she do the right thing?
