There are fewer couples out there sweeter than Stacy Solomon and Joe Swash. So when the couple announced in June that they were expecting a baby, fans rushed to congratulate them and their Instagram was flooded with well-wishers.
The new is especially sweet because of the long and difficult fertility journey that the couple had together to get to this point. The X factor contestant shared on her stories that they had been nervous and slow to announce the news due to their difficulties, showing fans a negative pregnancy test and telling them, ‘for a really long time we've been trying for another pickle...It didn't work out and this was our news quite a few times...’
Stacy’s bravery in sharing her story is so inspiring for mums who are struggling right now. There is often a silence around fertility struggles and it can feel like such a lonely journey sometimes, as we don’t want to discuss uncomfortable or sad topics with friends. But Stacy speaking up shows us just how important it is to share our journeys to let each other know we’re not alone.
She continued to talk about their decisions as a couple around their journey, telling fans: ‘We decided we were so lucky already to have our boys. It is our biggest privilege in life and we are so grateful to be parents so we stopped trying and counted ourselves so so so blessed already...’
Then the next picture featured Stacy holding Swash’s hand, captioned: ‘For while now I've felt so yuck and even though I thought about what it felt like I didn't even want to go and check at first because well, just because, you know (I don't even like to write it).
‘But yesterday we went to check what was going on... And we were so grateful to hear an extra heartbeat my tummy.’
We were so excited at the announcement and even more so when they announced their baby’s gender over the weekend!
‘Baby Girl! I can not believe I’m writing this…We are growing a little baby girl. To our darling boys, you are the best big brothers anyone could wish for and you’re [sic] little sister is the luckiest girl in the world to have you all by her side. I honestly have no words…Mummy Daddy and ALL of your big brothers can not wait to meet you little one…We love you so so much already darling girl.’
With four boys already, we’re sure Stacy is delighted to have a little girl to mix things up a little and her Instagram stories have us so excited for her! Solomon (31) had shared that she was ‘so gutted when [she] had Rex early and didn’t document growing him’ and promised fans that, as she ‘didn’t think we would get to do it all again…I’m taking all the pictures I can,’ She posted alongside her adorable bump picture.
And she’s making good on her promise! Her Instagram story last night showed her starting to decorate their new arrival’s nursery – already nesting! She took fans through all the stunning little girl things she bought, from teddies to clothing to pillows – all pink of course!
You can tell how excited she is to have a little girl from the happiness in her voice as she tells fans ‘Just brought all my little girl stuff up that I collected in Cornwall. “Our little girl”…so weird! And the paint samples came today, so before the football starts I’m going to try that and you can help me choose the colour!’
She takes fans along with her on her nursery decorating adventure, trying out paint swatches of various shades of pink (and purple!), playing ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ in the background – cute!
