When you’re a parent to young children, you’ll take all the help you can get. When you’re a celebrity and you admit to this however, it seems that not everyone will view it in a positive light.
Hilaria Baldwin has been forced to defend herself and her choices as a mother, after her actor husband Alec took to social media to pay tribute to the nannies and babysitters who have helped to care for their two children.
It all kicked off after The Departed star posted a photo of two-year-old daughter Carmen being held by a nanny, the caption reading: “I am forever indebted to the women who have helped care for our children. Muchos gracias Lizzy, Sandra, Zena, Lisa and Avril.”
Whether or not the family currently employs five nannies, certain media outlets chose to take Baldwin’s words up that way, and not everyone liked what they heard.
Shortly after, the star’s wife Hilaria took to Instagram to address the reports and defend her choice to hire nannies for Carmen and newborn son Rafael.
“I just read a headline that says I have 5 nannies…First I was offended because it makes me sound like a lazy mom…that hurts. Especially because I spend so much time with my children that I barely sleep,” wrote the yoga instructor.
She went on to explain: “So yes, we do have help. When I am working, or working out, or we are going to an event, or having a date night. I also often have help with one child when I am with the other.”
Hilaria proceeded to take aim at the media for taking Baldwin’s expression of gratitude and casting it in a negative light, before denying that they have five nannies all at once.
The doting mum-of-two finished her post with a list of names – including Baldwin’s eldest daughter Ireland – and paid tribute to them “for loving and caring for our children”.
Hilaria boasts a huge following on Instagram, with fans regularly tuning in for her adorable baby photos and exercise tips.
