Much of her battle with the disease was played out in front of reality TV cameras as part of their show, The Osbournes, so many of us will know of the impact that Sharon Osbourne’s cancer diagnosis had on her as well as her family.

Now, daughter Kelly has drawn on that devastating time in her life, as part of a drive to drum up support for Cancer Research UK’s ‘Race for Life’ campaign.

Posing for the campaign with Sharon, who beat colon cancer 10 years ago, Kelly encouraged women everywhere to support the cause. She also drew on her own experience, having recently found out that she is carrying the BRCA1 gene.

“After watching my mum go through colon cancer and the recent news that I’m carrying the BRCA1 gene, just like my mum, I wanted to show my support for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life,” said the 30-year-old.

Expressing her support for Angelina Jolie’s decision to have her breasts and ovaries removed, Kelly also revealed that she has accepted the fact that she may have to follow her example.

“I know one day I will eventually have to do it too. If I have children I want to be there to bring them up. I have been the child of a cancer survivor and being on that end as well has been really hard to deal with,” she said.

“I’m so lucky to have the brave mother I have,” she added.

We're sure that many of you in Kelly's position can identify with the tough decisions she is facing into. We wish her all the best.
