While the vast majority of our little ones channelled their inner ghost and ghoul over the last weekend, one little girl had a very different idea in mind.

Unimpressed at the prospect of dressing up as Disney character or a dastardly swashbuckler, Viola Davis' daughter decided it would make more sense to dress up as her hero - her mum.

The actress, who has been nominated and won numerous awards over the course of her career, took to her social media channels in order to share a snapshotof the Davis / Tennon Halloween celebrations.

Sharing a photo of her daughter, Genesis, dressed as her much-loved mum on Emmy night, The Help actress offered an adorable explanation for the choice of ensemble.

Outlining the thought process which went into the little girl's decision making at the weekend, Viola wrote: "So...the Elsa costume? Didn't work for her. The pirate? A no go."

Delighting fans and followers all over the world, the 50-year-old star who adopted Genesis as a newborn, continued: "So she finally said: "I just want to be YOU mommy!" So,,,uhhh..this is ME!"

Clutching an award statue and rocking a beautiful white dress very similar to the one her mummy wore on her special night, Genesis grinned broadly for the camera and melted millions of hearts in the process.

The upload which has been likes almost 400,000 times has been inundated with comments from adoring fans.

Highlighting the significance of Genesis' choice, one overwhelmed follower of the acclaimed actress wrote: "I. Can. Not! How do you even hold yourself together when your child picks you over Elsa and The Pirate?!!"

We're with her on that one!
