From making up false pregnancy rumours to making derogatory comments on body image, there are certain publications which have come in for major criticism in recent times, but it looks like there is spectacular backlash on the horizon for Star magazine.
The publication has been slammed on social media this week, after running a cover feature on celebrity mums in which its writers ‘rated’ stars including Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton.
The latest cover features the heading, ‘Best & Worst Moms’, with Kim and Kate joining Hilary Duff and Naomi Watts as they get 'rated' on their parental skills. While the Duchess of Cambridge is given an ‘A-‘, Kim receives a ‘D-‘, with daughter North being branded ‘spoiled rotten’.
Needless to say, the offensive cover has sent ripples out across social media, with a number of outraged readers slamming the publication for approaching the topic of motherhood in such a manner.
Among the critics was actress and mother-of-two Kristen Bell, who tweeted: “I hope no one responsible for this week’s cover of Star is raising children of their own. Shame on them.”
Meanwhile, Kristen’s husband Dax Shepherd echoed her sentiments, writing: “Please let Star know how you feel about their cover ranking ‘Best and Worst Moms’. Mine are leaning towards repugnant.”

Others have hit out at the magazine, branding the feature ‘disgusting’, and slamming it for promoting ‘competition’ and ‘division’ among mothers.
