We may not live there but we spend enough time reading the gossip columns to know that no secret is EVER safe in Hollywood! And it doesn’t take much to get a rumour going, either – whether it’s true or not.

This is something that Halle Berry has learned the hard way this week, after setting the rumour mill in motion with a public appearance over the weekend.

The 50-year-old star set tongues wagging on Saturday, at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles, when she posed for photos with her hands on her tummy.

It wasn’t long before gossip sites began reporting that the Catwoman star may be expecting her third child. We know – how presumptuous of them!

When the rumour began to gain momentum, Halle’s representative reached out to the New York Post to categorically deny any suggestion that the actress is expecting.

Can a girl have some steak and fries??

“It is completely untrue. She is not pregnant,” Halle’s rep said, in a statement.

And while her rep took a more formal approach to the rumours, Halle showed her sense of humour as she addressed the stories. Over on her Instagram account, the star posted a photo of herself, appearing to confirm that the only ‘baby’ that made an appearance on the red carpet was a ‘food baby’!

“Can a girl have some steak and fries?” she wrote, teasingly, in the caption of the post.

Halle’s followers were all praise for the star’s reaction to the rumours, and they were quick to call out the gossipers for jumping to conclusions.

“I know right? People do not understand how hard it is to be healthy and in shape, ‘cause I love me some potato chips,” wrote one.

Halle is mum to nine-year-old Nahla, her daughter with her former partner, Gabriel Aubry; and three-year-old Maceo, her son with ex-husband Olivier Martinez.

Halle has always chosen to be up-front and vocal when it comes to addressing tabloid stories. Only a few months ago, the star opened up about her decision to crop her children’s faces out of her social media posts.

In response to the follower who accused her of ‘hiding her children’s beautiful faces’, Halle wrote: “I’m not at all ashamed of my children. I try to find creative ways to incorporate them into my feed because they are the biggest part of my life, but I also work very hard to keep their identities as private as I can considering they are only children.”

“When they grow and they’re of age, and they want me to share their images on the internet; that will be for them to decide, not me.”

We love that she's tackling the rumours head-on - good woman, Halle!
