The main symptom of chalazion is a hard, painless nodule in the upper or lower eyelid. There is often some enlargement, where it starts out small and gradually increases in size. Chalazion is often recurrent especially in the case of poor lid hygiene or the presence of the condition, blepharitis. 
 
There may be some pressure on the eyelid depending on the size of the chalazion.
 
You may notice some tearing and sensitivity to light.
