The main symptom of congenital cataracts is a grey or white cloudiness of the pupil (this is normally black). If this cloudiness extends to both eyes then you may notice that your infant doesn’t seem to be able to see very well. Another common symptom of cataract is the red eye glow of the pupils is missing in photos or differs between the two eyes. Congenital cataracts often look different to other forms of cataracts so if you notice any of these symptoms then you should consult with your G.P. or paediatrician.
