Hyperopia in children is quite common but it often goes unnoticed. There are some main signs you can watch out for if you think your child may be farsighted:

  • Blurred vision (particularly at night)
  • Frequent headaches
  • Eyestrain
  • Difficulty reading (children may find themselves reading the same line over and over again)
  • Lack of interest in reading
  • Rubbing of eyes
  • Crossed eyes

If you notice your child or teenager has any or a combination of some of these symptoms then you should schedule an appointment with your optometrist who will be able to diagnose hyperopia.
