Styes appear as red bumps on the eyelid of the eye and can cause itching or discomfort. It may feel as though there is something in your eye. Styes are usually painful and the eyelid may look red and swollen. Vision is sometimes blurred and the eyes may be sensitive to light. It is important to consult with your G.P. if your child is experiencing fever, pain, or swelling of the entire eyelid. This is also the case for a stye that doesn’t show any signs of improvement after a few days of treatment at home.
