Taylor Swift has responded to speculation that she will ‘quit’ the music industry after she gets married.
On August 26, fans of the hit singer were thrilled when she announced her engagement to her partner of two years, NFL player Travis Kelce.
Now, as she continues to promote her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor has broken her silence on rumours that she will be retiring from music in order to tie the knot and start a family.
Speaking in a pre-recorded interview with BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills, the 35-year-old was asked if her 12th studio album is her last.
“What? No. That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say. That’s not why people get married, so that they can quit their job. I know [my fans] love to panic sometimes,” Taylor reassured.
“I love the person that I am with, because he loves what I do and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music. That's the coolest thing about Travis, he is so passionate about what he does, that me being passionate about what I do connects us,” she explained.
“There's no point in time where he's going to be like, ‘I'm really upset that you're still making music. The music thing that I signed up for, that I knew you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that,’” the Cruel Summer hitmaker continued.
Taylor then reflected on how “supportive” the couple are of each other’s careers.
“It is the most fun thing to be able to support each other, and the polarity of how different our jobs are, but there’s a lot of similarities, too. We both, as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums,” she detailed.
“When I’m in those stadiums, it’s a dressing room, but when he’s in those exact same stadiums, it’s a locker room. For him, it's practice and for me it's rehearsal. For him it’s a game, for me it’s a show, we just call them different things. We both have teams. It’s a very similar thing. We are both competitive in fun ways,” Taylor noted.
When asked if she will be hiring a wedding planner, the Grammy winner added: “I don't know. Right now, I’m just really stoked about the idea that I get to marry this person.”
