The terminally ill mum of a Welsh man missing for two years has issued a heartbreaking appeal, saying that all she wants for Christmas is to know what happened to her son.

Kyle Vaughan, 25, disappeared after being involved in a collision in December 2012. His car, a silver Peugeot 306, was found abandoned on the A467 between Risca and Crosskeys.

The authorities went on to launch a murder investigation into the Newbridge man’s disappearance, and two men remain on police bail after their arrest.

Now, almost two years on from the 25-year-old’s mysterious disappearance, his devastated mum Mary, who has terminal liver cancer, has appealed for information.

Speaking to local newspaper the South Wales Argus, the 52-year-old and her 28-year-old niece, Lanie Ball asked that Kyle to “stay ticking in people’s minds”.

“My greatest wish for Christmas is for his body to come to rest. I have terminal cancer but Kyle is what keeps me going. It’s like you wake up every day and it’s just going over the same things again, always waiting,” said Mrs Vaughan.

Ms Ball added: “Christmas is always a tough time, not just because it is a time for family but because it’s the time of year when he went missing. It would mean everything for me and my family to have answers. That’s all we want, especially for my auntie who is ill.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Gwent Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
