She is well used to controversy, so we reckon Danielle Lloyd isn’t too bothered by the comments posted under her latest Instagram post.

The reality star, who gave birth to her fourth child earlier this month, has split opinion by sharing a photo of her placenta capsules – along with a frame containing her umbilical cord, arranged into the word ‘love’.

Danielle, who welcomed a son with partner Michael O’Neill, captioned the post: “So pleased my Placenta Plus have arrived. I’m so excited to feel all the benefits of taking the tablets, and hopefully the face cream will make me look healthier and refreshed.”

While the 33-year-old is clearly delighted with the delivery, not everyone has been so enamoured with the post!

“Each to their own and all that, but eurgh, that is gross! Why would anyone want to frame a rotting piece of flesh?! Blurgh!” wrote one follower, who did not hold back in her critique!

Another added: “Congratulations on your baby boy, but yours or anybody’s placenta in a frame is just yuck – eww!”

Others, meanwhile, were a little more supportive – mainly due to their own positive experiences with consuming their placenta.

“Best thing I ever done [sic],” wrote one fan. “Felt amazing within days. Just gutted I [haven’t] done them with my other babies.”

Others were interested in trying out the process for themselves, with one mum-to-be chiming in: “I’m booked in for these when I have my baby. Can’t wait to see how they work – I’ve heard amazing things! Big congrats on your baby.”

Danielle – who is also mum to seven-year-old Archie, six-year-old Harry, and four-year-old George – has yet to reveal her newborn’s name; we reckon she may have an OK! magazine spread in the works!

The new mum follows in the footsteps of Rochelle Humes, Amy Childs and Kourtney Kardashian, who have all consumed their placenta, and kept keepsakes.

While it has never been scientifically proven, many new mothers claim to have reaped a range of benefits from consuming their placentas – whether in the form of capsules or smoothies. Benefits are said to include increased energy levels, as well decreased chances of developing postnatal depression.

Have you consumed your placenta? How do you feel about making a keepsake of your umbilical cord? Let us know, mums!
