While we fully subscribe to the ethos of 'each to their own', we couldn't help feel a little stunned at this mum's baby name choice.

Sometimes we’re so desperate to ensure our baby name is different from everyone else that we go to great lengths, like googling obscure mythical Celtic names or choosing a name from Latvia even though we’ve never been there, or changing the spelling ever so slightly so it’s a little more unique.

But one Aussie mum has taken it to an extreme level by inserting Roman numerals in her daughter's name!

Yep, the mum wanted to name her adorable baby Kaitlin, but was put off by hoe ‘mainstream’ the name had become. And so, to have her cake and eat it too she replaced some of the letters with the numerals.

“My husband suggested we replace the ‘ait’ with the Roman numeral symbol for eight!” she wrote.

Something tell us this isn’t about to take off anytime soon – can you imagine the difficulty at school roll call?

What do you think of the name? Do you love it? Or HIIIV it? (Yes, we’re very cheeky!)

SHARE if you’re a bit bemused by the whole idea!
