The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge land in Northern Ireland for two-day visit

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have landed in Northern Ireland for a two-day trip. The official visit was kept secret until the parents arrived this afternoon.

It is believed the visit is to celebrate how far the community has come in recent years, with a special focus on celebrating the young people of Northern Ireland.

According to Rebecca English, the first day of their visit will have a strong focus on the impact that sport, nature and the outdoors can have on childhood development and improved physical and mental health

The Duke and Duchess will also attend a party at the Empire Music Hall. The celebration will honour young people who have made a positive impact in Nothern Ireland.

Kate and William will acknowledge the progress the North has made in the past 20 years. They will praise those who have overcome division in the country.

They are set to carry out royal engagements in Belfast, Ballymena and County Fermanagh during the two day trip.

This afternoon, the mum and dad visited the National Stadium at Windsor Park. At the football stadium, they will meet people who have used football to help battle community division in Northern Ireland.

Kate and William receieved a warm welcome by the public as they arrived in Northern Ireland.

The royals won’t be commenting on Brexit or Stormont during the visit as the Royal Family must remain neutral about politics.
