Slowly, but surely, we are getting slivers of information from the new series of Big Little Lies - and we can hardly contain our excitement!

We've read the reports that the one and only Meryl Streep would be joining the cast and in case you thought it sounded too good to be true, there's now photographic evidence confirming this most wonderful fact.

Nicole Kidman, megastar and now, Instagram extraordinaire, shared a photo from the set, where she filmed her first scene with Streep and the young actors who play her sons.

First day on the set with Meryl and “my” darling boys! #BigLittleLies

The Post actress will play Mary Louise Wright, mum to the cruel Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard) and mother-in-law to Kidman's Celeste.

Kidman's caption for the photo teases the tension that will no doubt be palpable between the two, with the particular emphasis on the word 'my': "First day on the set with Meryl and 'my' darling boys!"

You can practically see Streep plotting beneath the strained expression, as only she can do.

Welcome to the #BigLittleLies family Ms. Streep - can’t wait xx

After Perry's death in season one, Mary Louise comes to Monterey partly out of concern for her grandchildren, and also because she wants answers about what happened to her son.

Kidman revealed in January that the role of Mary Louise was written for Streep, but admits, "We didn’t think we’d get her."

The show garnered eight Emmys and four Golden Globe Awards for its first season, so we expect the same to come of the second, seven-episode series, especially if the cast is anything to go by.
