We recently reported on the ‘crowd-birthing’ trend that has swept delivery rooms across the world, and while that may have surprised people, it would be interesting to get your thoughts and feedback on this new craze.

According to a report in the New York Times, there has been a marked increase in the number of women who are inviting a ‘glam squad’ into the delivery room, to prepare them for their first post-birth photo.

Indeed, relaxing and taking your time to get to know Baby is not the priority anymore for millennial mums, who are enlisting the help of hairstylists and makeup artists to have them looking their very best for that all-important Instagram snap.

So popular has this trend become that certain beauty apps are now offering a 'delivery room special' for new mums.

Speaking to the New York Times, salon-owner Joel Warren gave his view as to why this trend has become so popular: “I think someone realised, ‘Why should I not look good for that great picture that I’m going to show everybody, the first picture of my child?’”

As for the inspiration behind the trend? It’s not hard to guess. With so many commenting on how incredible the Duchess of Cambridge looked when she stood on the steps of St Mary’s with Princess Charlotte, it is clear that many mothers out there are aspiring to look photoshoot-ready themselves.
