These days we may doubt that true love still exists. With the never-ending news of celebrity breakups, it’s hard to believe that romance is still alive.

However, it’s time to forget about Chris Pratt and Anna Faris or Brangelina, one man has shown us that romance isn’t dead in the most simple way.

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter the most.

This touching story was shared by Brittney Johnson on Love What Matters.

One woman spotted a man searching through the beauty section by himself. She wrote, “This man was on the phone with his wife, looking so hard for the EXACT Olive colored nail polish that she wanted. 'I got this, I got this, I’ll be home in a bit.'”

She watched the man who refused to give up on the little task, despite the ridiculous amount of nail polish colours he had to search through.

She explained that the man took a photo of the nail polish and sent it to his wife, “She called to help him. He says, 'Ok, so I sent you the pic. Is that the right one? You want to know the colors close to it? You just want all three colors?'”

His fellow shopper, Brittney believes that that is all it takes. Those little efforts that show your other half that you care.

She wrote, “Showing someone that whatever is special to them means something to you because they want it, or need it, or just really like it.”

She believes that stepping out of your comfort zone can work wonders for you and your relationship, “Letting yourself feel foolish sometimes for the sake of making your girl (or man) happy.”

Brittney admitted that she still adores the idea of romance, even in the age of smartphones and dating apps.

“It’s still so cool to me, the idea of romance... not the flowers and cards and candy, but the time and proof that you’ve actually listened.”

She explained that it isn’t about the expensive dinner dates or the dozen red roses they sent on your birthday. What truly matters is support.

“The support of the things that set that person’s soul on fire. Marrying your best friend, being all for ONE person, that’s still pretty cool!” she said.

Through sharing this story she hopes to show people that romance is still alive. It’s still out there, despite the changing times.

She wrote, “Don’t settle for less than that. Somebody, somewhere, will love you enough to go shopping alone for your favourite nail polish."

We adore her optimism!
