A father has asked for prayers for his wife and baby daughter, who were left fighting for their lives after birth.

Janelle Villareal was admitted to hospital early for monitoring while pregnant with daughter Eden Raine. She had previously lost her son Zachary during another pregnancy, and doctors suspected that she had pre-eclampsia.

Little Eden was born on June 10, via C-section, at just 31 weeks. She was brought to the intensive care unit, where she is still receiving treatment.

Things took a turn for the dramatic for Janelle, however, after the birth. As it turned out, she was suffering from a condition called HELLP Syndrome (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, and Low Platelet count).

HELLP Syndrome is a life-threatening pregnancy condition which tends to arise as a complication of pre-eclampsia.

Janelle, whose body was ‘shutting down’, had to be rushed to intensive care.

Opening up about the frightening incident to People, husband Daniel revealed that Janelle suffered internal bleeding on her liver, while her kidneys stopped working.

The family were told that Janelle needed a liver transplant, and she was left ‘close to death’.

After a lot of prayers, after some ‘incredible victories’, Janelle’s condition took to turn for the better two days ago.

“The liver transplant is off the table. Some miraculous things are happening with her turnaround, but her kidneys still aren’t functioning fully, so that’s the next miracle we need,” Daniel told People.

Little Eden, on the other hand, continues to fight: “My little girl is losing weight. By now, the doctors want her to have gained weight, so they’re making adjustments.”

Daniel is now calling for prayers to help his girls, while a friend has set up a GoFundMe page (link here) to raise money to help him with medical bills.

Friend Judy Dominguez wrote: “In the meantime, the medical bills and other related expenses for this precious family are racking up, and they need our help.

“We have set up this account, if your heart is moved to help. The Villareals would like to express their appreciation for all of the support they’ve received already in prayers, texts, calls and in every other way!”

We’re wishing Janelle and little Eden all the best with their recoveries.
