The most hated baby names have been revealed and they may surprise you

Sometimes grandparents can be a little bit too honest, and one group of granddads and grannies have proved that by sharing their most hated baby names.

In a survey conducted by Mumsnet and Gransnet, the group revealed their least favourite baby names, and they may surprise you.

Some of the names featured in this list are the most popular baby names at the moment, so we’re certainly surprised to see them there.

28 percent of the grandparents involved in the study admitted that they didn’t like certain names because they were too odd.

Another reason they hated a name was that it wasn’t the name they suggested. 20 percent of the participants expressed that they were disappointed that their name recommendation was snubbed.

A further 11 percent admitted that some of the names were far too old fashioned, with 10 percent revealing that they disliked a name because it reminded them of someone they hate.

Other reasons they weren’t impressed with the baby’s name was because it was too hard to pronounce, too difficult to spell or too plain.

Here are the most hated baby names by grandparents:

  1. Aurora
  2. Charlotte
  3. Elijah
  4. Finn
  5. Jack
  6. Lindsay
  7. Noah
  8. Sally
  9. Tabitha

Speaking about the study, Justine Roberts, who is the founder of Mumsnet said: “Choosing a baby name is fraught enough for parents when you’re only taking into account your own views. If you add grandparents’ biases to the mix, it can become impossible.”

Would your parent's opinion put you off picking a certain baby name for your tiny tot?
