With more and more people deciding to document their lives online, it's fair to say that the general public have started to become a little jaded when it comes to extravagant proposals and flamboyant first dances.
However, when it comes to the Christmas season, there's no doubt that most of us still have a lot of time for the traditional ‘homecoming’ videos.
So, it’s perhaps no surprise to learn that thousands of social media users have found themselves incredibly moved by the simplicity of one man’s surprise return home to the Emerald Isle this week.
Having been living in New York for a year, John Mc Aleenan made the decision to spend the festive season with family in Ireland in a move which has since captured the public’s attention.
Bucking the trend, John from Co. Down decided to forego the standard action-packed footage and instead simply sat on the sofa and awaited the arrival of his mum.
Her reaction says it all!
