We would imagine that there’s nothing more surprising than walking into your local charity shop, approaching the register to pay – and being served by a Teletubby!

Well, this is exactly what locals in Brixton were treated to this week, when Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po paid a visit to the neighbourhood’s Barnardo’s shop.

The visit was no accident! It formed part of a collaboration between the Teletubbies and the children’s charity, to mark the CBeebies stars’ 20-year anniversary. We know – we can’t believe they’re that old, either!

The colourful characters will be working with Barnardo’s for the year, and raising money for vulnerable children and families through the sale of limited edition Teletubbies merchandise at the charity’s range of stores.

So, if you have a little one who absolutely adores the Teletubbies, pop into your local Barnardo’s to pick up a piece from the sweet range of wristbands, keyrings, headbands, pens, and more.

Welcoming the collaboration, Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan, said: “My children grew up watching the Teletubbies, so seeing them at our Brixton store brought back lots of very happy memories for me.

“Our exclusive range of merchandise is a bright, fun and collectable way to support and make a difference to the thousands of children and young people we help each year.”

Customers lucky enough to attend today’s event in Brixton enjoyed hugs with Tiny-Winky and the crew, who met with little children, served customers and helped to sort out vintage albums.

Judging by the photos, everybody had a ball in the Brixton store!

This is such a great idea, and all for a very worthy cause. To find out more information, and how you can make a difference, simply visit Barnardo’s website through this link.
