In recent years, dads have been encouraged to have skin-to-skin contact with their babies, largely because it's good for bonding purposes. 

 

This is especially important for dads who may not have felt as attached to their baby during its time in the womb.

Handle with care

 

 

Daddy + baby skin to skin time is so important! Fathers report stronger feelings of closeness with their babies after S2S and can give them all the same benefits as mom (minus encouraging breastfeeding behavior!). Important to note however, that babies can become too warm in paternal skin-to-skin contact after 90 minutes as dad's chest doesn't have the ability to adjust + regulate baby's temperature like mother's breasts do.
