Where would we be without the everyday heroes? They truly make the world a better and warmer place.

One such hero is 86-year-old Ed Moseley, a retired engineer who recently took up knitting – just so he could help preemie babies in his community.

Ed’s heart-warming story began back in July, while living in the Dogwood Forest Assisted Living community, in Georgia.

DFAL staff encouraged residents to participate in a knitting project, to make little hats for premature babies in the local Northside Hospital.

Ed desperately wanted to help, but he didn’t know how to knit; he didn’t let that stop him from lending a hand, however.

After calling on his daughter for help, Ed was presented with a loom kit and all the materials necessary to learn how to knit.

While it may have taken him a while – and many dropped stitches – to get the hang of it, the granddad soon became a knitting pro!

In an interview with local newspaper the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ed revealed that he made 55 of the facility’s total 300 donated hats.

“I started slowly and learned it just takes patience,” Ed told the local publication, admitting that he is now ‘taking orders’ for loved ones.
