It's often said that twins have a special bond, and that's certainly the case with these two tots.

In June 2010, Lily and Summer Cobbing were born three months early in a hospital in Adelaide, Australia.

Before birth, the medical team had critical concerns about the twin sisters, so they performed an emergency c-section.

At birth, Summer was born weighing just 1.8lb, but her twin sister Lily was half that size, weighing less than 1lb!

Loving mum Michelle Roberts-Cobbing remembers: "Lily was tiny, tiny. Her ears were like little dried apricots, her tummy was so see-through you could see her organs and her eyes were still shut for a few more weeks."

Worried about her tiny twin, Michelle followed her maternal instincts and put her two baby girls side by side, as they were in the womb.

And the minute she did, tiny Lily perked right up.

"Lily snuggled into Summer and Summer snuggled into Lily," she told Daily Mail Australia.

After eight months of close monitoring and health checks, the delighted parents were told that they could take their babies home from hospital.

Although Lily struggled with heart and lung problems until she was two-years-old, the pair are now five and doing really well.

Mum Michelle explained: “Summer is dramatic and Lily is very laidback and goes with the flow.

“They love all the little girlie things and Lily loves Star Wars and Chewbacca.

“We’re just so proud of them.”
