Leap Day – that’s February 29, if you need a refresher – has turned out to be one of the most adorable moments of 2016 so far.

All this week we have been reporting on stories of babies born and joyful birth coincidences tying in with the day, but one report has well and truly captured our hearts.

Ask yourself: what is cuter than a ward full of newborn babies? The answer: a ward full of newborn babies dressed up as sweet little frogs!

The inventive staff at St. Clair Hospital in Pennsylvania, US wanted to honour their Leap Day babies in a very special way and decided to take inspiration from our favourite green hopping creatures.

Happy Leap Year! Our special babies are ready to leap into the world!

Each bundle of joy was dressed in a green T-shirt and matching frog bib and hat, and photos were shared to the hospital’s official Facebook and Instagram pages.

“Happy Leap Year! Our special babies are ready to leap into the world!” read the caption.

It’s not hard to guess what happened next; the photos went viral as the entire world cooed over these little Leap Day cuties!

“This is a very unique idea. Their parents can save the outfits and give them to the babies as keepsakes,” suggested one follower. We know if we were the parents, we’d be getting those cute little outfits framed!

SHARE this gorgeousness to make a fellow mum weak at the knees.
