Cancer is one of those diseases that really tests the physical and emotional strength of anyone it effects, especially young children.

One very special hospital in the city of Atlanta in the US has introduced a brilliantly uplifting way for sick children to mark the end of their treatment.

Friends and family of the child will line the hall of the Aflac cancer centre, and then the 'end of treatment bell' is rang.

It seems so simple, and almost trivial in a way, but it is really special moment for these youngsters who have faced so much pain and exhibited so much strength.

A representative from the hospital spoke to Popsugar about what the bell means to families:"the crystal-clear ringing is music to a mother's and father's ears".

We can only imagine the joy that ringing the bell must bring!
