This one has definitely got us thinking, that's for sure.

We're all in agreement that babies are the cutest, most squeezable things ever, right?

In fact, from the moment they are born, it is hard to resist picking them up and giving them a little cuddle.

And most of us will do so without ever asking the infant if it is OK (yes, we ask the parents, but never the child).

Sure they can't speak, so why would we?

Well, Nisha Moodley is about the make you question everything, after she admitted that ever since her son, Raven, was born she has been asking his permission to hold him.

And it kind of makes sense.

The mum-of-one took to Instagram to share her reasons for seeking permission in a post that has been liked over 600 times.

"From the moment he was born, we've always asked before we pick him up," she wrote.

"I always feel for his "yes". Why? Because we want him to know that his body is his, and that others' bodies are theirs, and no one gets to make choices about someone else's body."

Continuing, the San Franciscan added: "If you ever want to hold someone else's baby, my suggestion is to ask the parent, then ask the kid."

"It always touches my heart when someone takes a moment to connect with him and says "Can I hold you, dude?"

While it's definitely a new concept, it does, in a way, make sense and will teach your child to respect both themselves and others.

What do you think? Do you ask permission or do you think it's a little OTT?
