Getting that confirmation that you are pregnant is always a surprise, but one mum in the UK was not prepared for the sequence of events that occurred after she found out she was expecting.

Emma Bromfield has made headlines this weekend after giving birth to a baby son – just two days after finding out that she was pregnant!

The 36-year-old decided to take a pregnancy test after missing her period last month, and she and her husband Jason were totally shocked but delighted to discover that baby number four was on the way.

After passing blood a few days later, Emma went to her GP who sent her to hospital for an early pregnancy scan. There, she was told that she was around nine months pregnant and, frighteningly, she could be having a miscarriage.

It was a completely different story, however, when Emma’s midwife came along and did her own examination. It turned out that Emma was actually 35 weeks pregnant, and she went into labour shortly after.

After forty minutes, Emma gave birth to son Frankie, who weighed in at 6lb 1oz.

Speaking to local media after the birth, Emma said that she was totally taken aback by the sequence of events: “I am not new to the signs of pregnancy and I had not had any of the morning sickness I had had with the other three.”

“If the doctor hadn’t sent me for an early pregnancy scan, I would have been on the school run at the time of giving birth, and it could have very easily happened in the playground,” she added.

Emma and Jason are also parents to seven-year-old Millie, six-year-old Molly, and 15-month-old George.
