Amy Schumer’s father Gordon has been in a wheelchair for years due to the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis (MS). Well, just yesterday he was able to stand, thanks to new medical technology.
The comedian posted a video of the amazing event to her Instagram – and it brought us to tears!
During the video, Amy leans her head on her father’s shoulder and you can hear her say, "Hey, we haven’t stood next to each other in a while!"
“My dad stood today with the help of a device. But he stood,” the Inside Amy Schumer star said in the post to her 6.3M Insta followers, “Thank you to his nurse Sam. Dr Kanter and Dr Sadiq and everyone at Tish for their MS stem cell work. Also Pure Prairie League for their song ‘Aime’ his favorite song. We had a good day.”

The Trainwreck star’s Insta followers LOVED to see the actress and her father so happy. Some even shared their own stories related to the disease.
One follower said, “Nothing more powerful than a daughters hope.”
“This is amazing! My mom suffers from MS and I see her struggle every day,” said one fan sympathetically.
According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, more than 2.3 million people are affected by MS worldwide, with the disease tending to affect people further away from the equator.
In MS, the operation of the central nervous system deteriorates so that communication between the body and the brain breaks down.
The symptoms vary greatly and include muscle weakness or spasms, difficulty with coordination, fatigue, problems speaking, and visual impairment.
The disease is often debilitating, and sometimes, like in Gordon’s case, mobility is restricted to the point that those who suffer MS need to use a wheelchair.
It’s inspiring to see how far medical technology has come, and the incredible impact it can have on families like Amy’s.
