Amazing!

We know that discourse on public breastfeeding is nothing new, but the reason it’s not going anywhere is because women are still being told to cover up, to take their baby to a toilet to feed them.

Who wants to eat in a toilet? Exactly, no one.

So we were blown away by this incredibly powerful video by British poet and spoken word artist Hollie McNish.

Titled “Embarrassed” the short film uses rhyming quick-fire wit to perfectly explain society’s double standards when it comes to women’s breasts.

“Why is titillation accepted and sustenance rejected?” the mum asks, making the true but oh-so frustrating point that no one’s complaining about sexy magazines showing boobs on supermarket shelves, but mums have to cover up in case someone sees a tiny piece of flesh.

“Top shelves out for men, why don’t you complain about them then?” she says.

We get if you think stories about public breastfeeding have reached saturation point, but Hollie’s video is so amazingly spot on, we think it should be shared everywhere. Maybe it will put this ridiculous double standard to bed once and for all.

SHARE if you think Hollie's nailed it.
