Now that we have entered spring, it won’t be long before we're receiving countless amounts of wedding invites for the summer. While everyone loves a good wedding, when you have to bring your baby, the day is very different to what you would normally expect.

If you are attending a wedding this year, and you absolutely have to bring your baby, follow these eight tips so that you can ensure you have a good time.

Make sure it’s ok with the bride and groom

Some couples don’t want babies at their big day so make sure you clear it with the bride and groom before you do go. The last thing you want is for them to be giving you dirty looks throughout the day.

Have an escape plan

Sit at the back during the ceremony so that if your little one does start crying or getting restless you can get up and leave without disturbing anyone.

Rent a room

If the wedding is taking place at a hotel try to book a room. Even if you aren’t planning on staying overnight you will need somewhere to go where you can feed baby in peace and let them have a snooze.

Take up offers of help

Everyone is going to be cooing over your baby and when they do offer to hold your youngster while they you eat, take them up on it.

Bring your other half

If you can, bring your other half with you or arrange to share baby duties with a friend or relative so that you can take it in turns to mind baby and relax a bit.

Bring a change of clothes

Babies are prone to spitting up or pooping on your favourite outfit, so make sure you bring another one that you can change into if there are any accidents.

Prepare bottles / food before

If you are bottle-feeding make sure you have enough bottles prepared to last the day and if they are being weaned you will need to pop some puréed meals into the baby bag.

Be realistic

Be realistic about how long you will be able to stay at the reception for – you will need to leave early to bring baby home or up to the room to have a sleep. If you recognise that you won’t be doing an all nighter you won't be worrying about missing out.
