Faith in humanity restored!

We reckon a feel-good story about the kindness of strangers is something we ALL need to read on a daily basis. It’s good for the soul to remember that there are more good than bad people in the world, and continues to remind us never to give up on other people.

One such story on perennial feel-good Facebook page Love What Matters really filled us with a good dose of the warm and fuzzies, so much so that we felt compelled to share it with you.

A single mum of a toddler and a two-month old felt it all get on top of her recently when both her kids developed head colds. Her wait to see the doctor with the kids took an hour and a half, during which the kids, understandably, became fractious.

“An hour and a half later my toddler is throwing a huge tantrum,” recalled the mum. “He was screaming and fighting me and then my infant started to cry. During this 30 minute meltdown I watched in horror as one by one everyone’s eyes turned to me.”

Mortified, the mum wanted to “crawl into a hole and disappear” until another mum looking on walked over and asked if she needed help. She gratefully accepted.

“With tears streaming down my face and unable to speak I simply nodded yes,” she said. “We were called back a few minutes later to see the doctor. But while we were waiting the mother said, ‘It will all be OK. No one here is judging you. Our hearts are breaking that you have to do this yourself. I've been in your shoes and I promise it gets better’. I am so thankful to that mother. It's people like her that make this world a better place.”

We LOVE to hear stories about compassionate and caring mums who realise we’re all in this together. Instead of glares and hurtful, cruel mutterings about not being able to control her kids, this mum was left feeling understood and supported. Kindness really does make the world go round!
