We plan our weddings for months in advance and dream about having ‘the perfect day’, surrounded by our loved ones.

Bride-to-be Bernadette Beahan was no different of course, but a phone call she received on the morning of her wedding changed everything.

Bernadette was prepping for the big day ahead when she got a call from her bridesmaid and best friend, Melissa White, telling her that she had gone into labour – six weeks ahead of her due date.

“There were obviously mixed emotions when it all happened on the morning. Obviously I was super happy for her but also sad that she couldn’t be there,” Australian Bernadette told local media.

Despite the fact that she had a hair and beauty team awaiting her, Bernadette decided that she couldn’t go ahead without seeing Melissa on her big day. After making a few phone calls and switching her appointments around at the last minute, Bernadette was at Melissa’s bedside before the ceremony and even got to meet her healthy newborn son, Hunter.

Bernadette’s photographer, Talitha Rice, even managed to get some photos of the bridal party with the new mum and baby – and, naturally, Melissa was handed the all-important bouquet!

Describing the day as “amazing”, Bernadette confirmed that everything from there on went smoothly.

It certainly sounds like a day she and her loved ones will never forget!
