As any mum can attest, motherhood can be an emotional rollercoaster, and it's rare we don't feel the need to seek honest advice from someone familiar with our situation.

While we may feel celebrity mums have it all sewn up, a recent admission from world-famous fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, reminded us that no matter what the circumstances, motherhood can be rife with personal pitfalls and anxieties.

Speaking to Good Morning America during a recent interview, the mum-of-four admitted she harboured concerns about her work / life balance and reached out to a fellow mum and fashion designer for assurance.

Recalling the conversation, 41-year-old Victoria, who was last night accepted a Glamour Women of the Year award, said: "I was having dinner with Diane von Furstenberg a few months ago and she's a woman I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for."

Opening up about the issue which many women face, Victoria continued: "I said to her, 'Diane, when your children were younger and you were working, did you feel guilty?"

Upon broaching the topic with the 68-year-old designer, Victoria recalls feeling reassured by Diane's take on her concerns.

"She said, 'Absolutely not. It's a waste of time, a waste of energy; it's (the stress is) ageing.' And she said, 'Actually, you're setting a good example, the fact that you're a woman, you're going to work; you really are setting a good example."

Paying tribute to the mother-of-two, Victoria insisted: "That was great advice because I'm sure there are lots of women right now, watching TV, thinking, 'I feel guilty, I've got kids and I'm going to work."

Victoria assessed her situation based on Diane's advice and acknowledged that her decision to work and raise children was the right one for her, saying: "Actually, it is a positive message to be giving to your children and other women and children as well."

Speaking at the award ceremony last night, the star who rose to fame in the mid 90s said: "Me standing here tonight accepting this award proves that if you dream big and you work hard, there are no limits to what you can achieve."

Congratulations Victoria!
