We're all for complimenting strangers – the way we see it, if someone has done something you admire, why hold it in? Telling them makes you feel good AND it makes the recipient of your praise feel like a million dollars!

So we love this story of a college student letting a breastfeeding mum know just how much she admires her.

The mum, who was breastfeeding her baby in a restaurant, was no doubt shocked and delighted to see one of the college students sitting at a nearby table drop a $15 gift card on her table.

The reason? She was grateful to the mum for proudly breastfeeding her child and “helping reduce the stigma for future moms like me”.

“My friends and I were at Chipotle today and it was packed with students from a nearby college,” said the mum on the peaceful parenting Facebook page. “One girl ran over, dropped this on the table, smiled and walked out the door. So amazing to see what we are doing is having an impact on future generations!”

And the post has received hundreds of positive Facebook comments, including one that perfectly sums up why the girl’s actions were so amazing:

“It's amazing that the girl didn't need to have kids to understand that there is a stigma occurring,” wrote the commenter. “She is selfless enough to 1. Be educated and worldly enough to understand the current stigma and 2. Without needing to examine herself she could emphasize with another woman because of her knowledge of the stigma.

“She recognized how helpful public nursing is for normalization AND saw a nursing woman as an example for her future self. This is a HUGE deal. So many people (myself at times) are so caught up in their world that they cannot see literally and figuratively the struggles of others. OR they have to have the experience themselves to feel that empathy. Her words alone are precious gifts.”
