The Albert Square resident has announced in an exclusive interview with Hello! that his girlfriend of 20 years, Joanne Mas, proposed to him on Valentine’s Day.
The couple have three children together, but Danny was still shocked when she popped the big question: “It was a complete bolt out of the blue but I’m so glad she did it because I don’t think I could have taken the rejection. I love the fact Jo proposed.”
Joanne obviously knows Danny very well, saying she knew it was up to her to move things forward. “I’ve always wanted to marry Danny and I decided that if I didn’t get things moving, it would never happen.
"I never wanted to get married when the children were babies because I wanted to let my hair down and enjoy the day. But we have had our little boy now and we’re not going to have any more, so the time is right.”
The couple have seen their fair share of struggles, with Danny cheating a number of times, but the past is firmly in the past for these two, with Joanne saying: “It’s been hard but I’ve got over it.”
The wedding is planned for 2016 and looks set to be a huge event, with their three kids Dani (18), Sunny (six) and Arty (16 months) all involved, and plenty of soap and movie stars in attendance.
