While we have all expressed love for CBeebies at some point, for entertaining our little ones when we need it the most, that love has grown thanks to the gift that is Tom Hardy’s Bedtime Stories.

Yes, mums all over the world have found themselves tuning in to hear the dulcet tones of the hunky actor, as he regaled us with a bedtime experience we have never encountered before!

While it’s all been a laugh and a bit of fun up to this point, the next instalment is likely to leave us drying tears from our eyes.

Indeed, the next Bedtime Story will be a poignant dedication to Woody, Tom’s beloved dog who died in June.

The news was announced on the CBeebies Grown-Ups Twitter account, with a heart-warming photo of Tom and Woody.

“Tom Hardy and Woody join us for one last story…,” the tweet read.

When a viewer questioned how Woody would be a part of the show, they replied with another tweet, explaining: “We’d like to thank Tom and his family, who have allowed us to show this as a tribute to the memory of their dog, Woody.”

According to reports, Tom will be reading the book Fleabag by Helen Stephens. It’s a poignant choice, as the story – documenting the relationship between a little boy and a stray dog looking for a home – mimics Tom’s own meeting with Woody.

Tom first met Woody while filming the movie Lawless, in Atlanta. The star – who has son Louis with wife Charlotte Riley – took the stray Woody home, thus beginning a beautiful friendship.

Woody became Tom’s life companion, even accompanying him to red carpet events.

The news of Woody’s passing emerged two months ago, with Tom penning a heartfelt letter to his best friend.

“I don’t normally speak out about family and friends, but this is an unusual circumstance. Woody affected so many people in his own right,” he wrote.

“Thank you, Woody, for choosing to find us. We will love you and be with you, and you with us, forever. Never, ever, ever forgotten. Your boy, Tom.”

Tom’s final (sure-to-be heart-wrenching) Bedtime Story will air on National Dog Day, on August 26.
