Could you imagine Kristin Davis as Carrie Bradshaw?

A new book reveals that she was asked to audition for the role, but turned it down, once she read the characters description.

The Sex and the City franchise has been a staple across living rooms everywhere.

Love it or hate it, most friends groups relate to having a Carrie, Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte. The women are constantly referenced in popular culture, so could you really envisage Carrie as being played by Kristin Davis?

While Charlotte hasn’t graced our screens since 2012’s Sex and the City 2 movie, for us, Kristin Davis will always be the brown glossy-haired girl with incredible style and a Park Avenue apartment we could only dream of.

Which is perhaps the reason we were so surprised to learn that the series’ creator Darren Star, wanted Davis to audition for the role of Carrie Bradshaw.

In Jennifer Keishin Armstrong’s new book, Sex and the City and Us, details of the casting process from the creator were revealed.

Reportedly, Sarah Jessica Parker initially had reservations about playing Carrie. Therefore, Star approached Davis and asked her to audition for the part.

Although Davis had already secured the role of Charlotte, the book explains that the description of Carrie was what threw Kristin off the role.

“Davis shut down when she read Star’s description of Carrie as having ‘the body of Heather Locklear and the mind of Dorothy Parker.’”

Dorothy Parker was an American poet, writer, critic, and satirist, famous for her wit, wisecracks, and eye for 20th-century urban flaws.

Meanwhile, Dynasty and Melrose Place star is still the subject of endless “bikini body” articles.

According to the book, that was the deal breaker for Kristin.

“All Davis could think was, ‘I am never in a hundred million years going to have the body of Heather Locklear’.”

“The character also smoked and swore a fair amount – before Parker shifted the character a bit – which felt outside Davis’ boundaries.”

Reportedly Star was told “Carrie’s fantastic, but I’m Charlotte” by Kristin as she politely turned down the role.

As we all know, Sarah Jessica Parker took the part of Carrie, but the book indicated that it was under certain conditions.

“She didn’t want Carrie to throw around the word ‘f**k’ [and] hoped Carrie would be thoughtful about language, given her profession as a writer,” the book explains.

A no-nudity contract clause was famously secured by the actress for all six seasons of Sex and the City.

“I’ve always had one, and it’s apropos of absolutely nothing,” SJP told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016.

“Some people have a perks list and they are legendary. They have to have white candles in their room. I don’t have a crazy list like that. I’ve just always had [a no-nudity clause].”

That does not mean the actress is against her co-stars embracing their au naturel side.

“I don’t have any judgment about anyone who chooses to do it,” she said.

“I think it’s fantastic that people feel comfortable doing it. It’s not some kind of principled position or religious or ideological on my part.”
