Pippa Middleton and James Matthews's will soon have their first child as a new member of their family, and he or she will have rather famous cousins. Their future child will be a first cousin to members of the British royal family, but he or she won't be inheriting a royal title like the rest of his or her relatives.

The reasoning is quite simple, despite the fact that Pippa Middleton and her husband will receive a royal title (of sorts) of their own.

"Pippa is Mrs. James Matthews, [so] her kids will be Master or Miss Christian name Matthews," Marlene Koenig, a royal historian and writer of the Royal Musings blog, explained to Town and Country.

But even with Pippa and James having titles, they aren’t the same as royal titles, as in, ones bestowed on members of the royal family.

Koenig explained that the reason the Matthews boy or girl will not be known as a future prince, princess, lord, or lady is because the child's parents don't have a royal title themselves.

Matthews and Middleton only have honorary titles because James' father, David Matthews, bought a castle along with a 10,000-acre plot of land in Scotland.

The title came with the purchase in 2008 and her father-in-law acquired the name, Laird of Glen Affric.

According to reports, the estate will be passed onto James and Pippa – along with the honourary titles, which the couple may or may not take. It is entirely up to them.

Pippa recently announced she was pregnant with her first child and her sister Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, recently gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis. No doubt Kate is busy preparing his upcoming christening celebration.
