Yes. Practically, sharing a bed with your child makes breastfeeding a matter of turning over, helping your baby to latch and feeding her. When you compare that with getting up to go to your baby, sitting in a chair and then getting him or her back to sleep before returning to bed, there’s really no contest.
Research has shown that babies who sleep with their mums tend to breastfeed more and for longer than those who don’t, and since breastmilk is the best thing for your baby, that’s another important plus.
Of course, while you won’t have to be fully awake to do it, studies have also shown that breastfeeding mums who share beds with their babies have a harder time weaning their children, and for many reasons, sleep sharing is not for everyone. If it works for you, and if it’s safe for your baby to sleep with you, then by all means, let your baby share your bed.
