William and Kate will return to this exclusive destination for their holidays

The Cambridge family are officially on their summer holidays, and the "creatures of habit" are set to return to an exclusive Caribbean island.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will jet off to the luxury destination of Mustique with the kids for a second summer in a row, according to a royal insider.

The royal source told Fabulous Digital: “They are going to Mustique again. It is incredibly private and incredibly discreet but not remote. They know and trust the staff who work there."

The source added; “Kate used to go there, the Middletons used to go there. The family love it.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their three kids to the island last year, with Prince George celebrating his fifth birthday by learning how to swim.

Prince George turns six on July 22, which could potentially be the date to celebrate a getaway for the royal family.

Prince George and four-year-old Princess Charlotte finished up school and nursery in the first week of July, so they're ready for their trip at any moment.

The gorgeous island is part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and has hosted a string of celebrity and royal holidaymakers over the decades.

Princess Margaret was a big fan of the 1,400-acre island, as well as The Queen herself, Prince Phillip, Mick Jagger and David Bowie.

Mustique is an entirely private island and even has its own police force to keep it's socialite clientele safe and hidden.

The source said: “It’s about as close as they can come to without going to total wilderness as they did on their honeymoon when they went to an island in the middle of nowhere.

“To go to a place with two bars and a few other people, and not feel totally isolated Mustique is perfect.” Royal fans will be left disappointed if they want to see photos from the royal trip.

Former Scotland Yard Chief Simon Humphrey is in charge of security on the island, and is often seen travelling around the pristine white beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters.

According to the website;

“Every island visitor is registered with our security team before arriving on island by land, air or sea, whether staff, local islander or guest to ensure the security team know who is on island at any one time.

“With such a conscientious and friendly team looking after you, rest assured, you will never want to leave.”

Last year, the Cambridge clan were joined by Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as her sister Pippa and her husband James Matthews.

Prince William and Kate will most likely take some time off from royal duties this month and next month, before resuming them in September. Both Kate and William are excellent sailors.

The pair will host The King's Cup sailing regatta in Cowes on Friday, August 9 to support their royal patronages.

They'll also visit the Queen's summer home Balmoral Castle this summer. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently enjoyed a trip to the Men's Wimbledon Final last week.
