When children have always been a part of your dreams for the future, and you are told that you may never become a parent, it’s hard to believe that all hope is gone.

Thankfully, one British woman has proven her doctors wrong, after they told her she would never be able to carry a baby to full term.

Amy Wigfull, from South Yorkshire, was dealt the sad news following her recovery from a serious accident in Spain, back in 2014. The 26-year-old was reportedly sleepwalking when she fell 50 feet from a fifth floor apartment while on holiday.

Amy suffered a number of serious injuries: a broken wrist, shoulder and pelvis; a punctured lung, bleeding on her brain, and broken vertebrae. With metal screws holding her pelvis together, Amy was told that her body would never be strong enough to hold a baby through pregnancy.

Recovery was tough and slow, but Amy defied doctors’ diagnoses to learn to walk again. It was a double-whammy then for Amy, when she discovered last summer that she was expecting with partner Andy.

Despite the major risk of miscarrying, Amy gave birth to a healthy baby son in December. Baby Ralph was born just after Christmas, on December 29, weighing in at 6lb 13oz.

Sharing her story with local media this week, doting mum Amy described Ralph as her “little miracle”.

Congratulations to Amy and Andy – it just goes to show that you should never give up hope.
