Recently, a mum went public with her outrage after being secretly photographed breastfeeding in public, then shamed on the internet. Now, another woman has used Facebook to call out an equally immature individual.

Australian Lauren Jovanovi has made headlines this week, over a very frustrating experience while shopping in Coles supermarket. Lauren was at the checkout, paying for her items, when the young male cashier made fun of the fact that she was purchasing sanitary towels.

Taking to Coles’ Facebook page to call out the employee, Lauren queried: “Just wondering whether your male checkout staff receive training on appropriate conversation and facial expressions to display while scanning female sanitary items, such as pads and tampons?”

She proceeded to explain how the cashier quipped: “Have you tried Viva paper towels, I’ve heard they’re pretty absorbent?” His accompanying smirk told Lauren that this wasn’t merely a helpful suggestion.

Perfectly capturing the frustration of the situation, Lauren added: “Now usually I am all for a good sense of humour, however when a woman is menstruating, she becomes a scary, enraged and frustrated being, and certainly does not want to hear about alternative ways to contain or absorb the blood that is mercilessly flowing out of her nether regions.”

Lauren’s post has since gone viral, attracting thousands of likes and a whopping 28,000 comments. Coles have yet to publicly comment on the incident, but we bet that young man has learned his lesson!
