The 33-year-old athlete, who decided to announce her pregnancy on Mother's Day this year, has welcomed a baby girl into the life she shares with husband, Peter O' Leary.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the popular star, who happily shared her experience of pregnancy with MummyPages, announced the wonderful news and suggested that she had spent a few days cherishing her new role as a mum before revealing all to delighted fans and followers.
Paying tribute to both her baby daughter and the staff who helped deliver her, Derval wrote: "Hugely grateful to all the amazing staff in CUMH. Delighted to welcome baby Dafne O'Leary to the world a few days ago."
Derval and Peter tied the knot in 2013 after both competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
