Wow! Consider us inspired!

We’re always looking for ways to stay happier and healthier, so when we came across an age-defying grandmother our first thought was, “What’s her secret?” And although the rational side of us knows staying youthful isn’t really a secret formula, but a lifestyle of making healthy choices, we still thought we could learn a thing or two!

Eryl Jones is an incredible 60-years old, although looking at her slim toned tummy you would put her down for less than half that. Aptly Eryl, who is from Wales, is mum to Sydney-based health and fitness blogger Rhian Allen, aka The Healthy Mummy, who asked her mum to share her top tips for looking good at 60.

The tips, which were shared on website Lose Baby Weight, are inspiring for women of all ages who want to get the most out of life and stay healthy for as long as possible. There are no quick fixes here, no surgery and not even anti-aging lotions and potions!

Eryl’s Top Tips

1. Use sunscreen every day even in winter. But before you do, allow yourself 10 minutes of sunshine for a Vitamin D shot.

2. Exercise daily, even if it’s a brisk walk.

3. Manage your weight. Eat healthily and check your BMI regularly.

4. Eat mostly plant-based meals full of antioxidants.

5. Don’t smoke.

6. Learn to meditate.

7. Have a regular small intake of red wine.

8. Eat all your nutrients but take a Vitamin C supplement.

9. Incorporate upper body light weight exercises into the day to maintain muscle and bone strength.

“I've always been interested in nutrition and healthy living, it started from a young age,” Eryl told Daily Mail Australia

“I think sensible eating and embracing moderation really pays off. When it comes to diets I think there can be too much emphasis on quick fixes. But what I really like is a natural and holistic approach to health.

“I do love a glass of red wine too. I'm lucky because it's the only alcohol I like... but I do try to keep two days a week free without alcohol.

“'I use a wash off cleanser for sensitive skin and I use a good moisturiser without any perfume or fragrance. “I love pampering as much as the next woman, but I think it's what you do every day that counts.”

Inspiring stuff!
