You wont believe what Dame Emma Thompson said to Prince William

Love Actually star Emma Thompson was honoured at Buckingham Palace yesterday. The actress received her damehood at the celebration for her services to drama.

Prince William was there to honour the actress and the duo had quite the funny exchange during the momentous occasion. The pair's conversation has certainly made us laugh on this Thursday morning. Emma's wit is just infectious.

Emma explained that she has known the prince for years and they share a very special bond. According to Hello, she said: “I love Prince William, I've known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other."

She added: "I said, 'I can't kiss you, can I?' And he said, 'No don't'!"

The Children Act star explained that you need to be formal when receiving your damehood but she couldn’t help but joke with William.

“He's looking wonderful and doing so well. He said, 'This day isn't about me, it's about you',” she shared.

"It's really lovely because I've always loved the boys and I've always been a long-term correspondent with their dad, it's a very lovely feeling,” Emma added.

The actress was praised for her outfit of choice at yesterday’s event. She wore a teal trouser suit by Stella McCartney with white trainers and an equal pay badge to Buckingham Palace.

"I'm very outspoken, politically, I'm a card-carrying feminist, human rights advocate, so good for them, because the establishment needs more people who can speak up for those things."

Dame Emma is officially our hero.
